Elections 2013PPP to sit in opposition in NA

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) central leader Senator Raza Rabbani said on Wednesday that PPP had accepted mandate of parties and now it would discharge their responsibilities in National Assembly as opposition despite the reservations on results of general elections.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Rabbani said international establishment, strategic situation of country and personal slackness of elected party members were main causes of PPP’s defeat in general elections 2013.

The PPP leader said anti-democratic forces tried to derail the democratic system in the country in last five years but people of Pakistan foiled their plan.

Rabbani said the passage of 18th and 19th Amendment by PPP was a millstone in the history of the country.

He said Balochistan government had failed to implement Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan Programme during five years, which caused defeat to party candidates in general election.

He said education and health sectors are provincial subjects, now any kind of effort to reverse these sectors to federation would be unacceptable.

PPP leader said party would act on seven-point agenda as opposition in National Assembly like economic revival, crises control, restoration of trade unions, implementation of 18th Amendment, independent foreign policy, restoration of law & order in the country, proper terrorism policy against anti-state elements, completion of Pak-Iran Pipeline Project and Gawdar Port.

The Senator said Taliban targeted left-wing parties in general elections, but right wing parties enjoyed their support under pre-planned conspiracy.

He thanked people of Sindh for giving mandate in the province to the party of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

He claimed that PPP would deliver exemplary performance after forming the government in Sindh and come into power in centre again on performance basis. He said PML-N is the party of capitalists and its policies always remained as anti-labour in past.
