PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday inaugurated the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), a flagship project of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to provide the people a state-of-the-art transport facility.

The Peshawar BRT worth around Rs 70 billion is a third-generation transit system and it will bring revolution in the Provincial Capital’s transport system as approximately 340,000 common people will enjoy a safe, comfortable and affordable travel in luxury buses on daily basis.

Its Inaugural Ceremony was attended by Governors of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federal and Provincial Ministers, Advisers and Special Assistants, and other Senior Government Officials.

In a tweet, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that the inauguration of the Peshawar BRT project is a fulfillment of another promise of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Shibli Faraz said that the state-of-the-art project is a gift from Prime Minister Imran Khan to the people of Peshawar.

The information minister said that the prime minister has always proved his critics wrong by his struggle and hard work.

Separately, Prime Minister Imran Khan also formally launched the ‘Ehsas Nashonuma’ Program in Bara area of District Khyber to provide nutritious food and stipend to deserving families to check stunting in the Country.

The Ehsaas Nashonuma is the first anti stunting program in the Country’s history. The budget of this year’s program is Rs 8.52 billion.

The program has been started to protect pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children under the age of two years from malnutrition.

Under the program, the deserving families will be provided with nutritious food along with quarterly stipends which will be Rs 2,000 for the girls and Rs 1,500 for boys.

In the first phase, 33 Nashonuma Centers will be established in nine districts of the Country.

All these Nashonuma Centers will be established by the end of August 2020.
