Government of PakistanWorld not taking global warming seriously, regrets President Arif Alvi

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr Arif Alvi has regretted that global warming poses a huge risk to humanity but it is not being understood by the world.

While addressing the Launching Ceremony of the Institute of Risk Management in Islamabad on Tuesday, the president said that 40 to 50 percent of the insect population is already missing and we have to be serious to save humanity.

The president stressed the need for collaborative efforts to deal with common challenges and threats. He pointed out that global warming, viruses, religious rivalries, and national conflicts are the major prevailing threats to the world community.

Referring to the collapse of a building in Karachi which claimed 27 lives, the president stressed that we should be concerned to build more secure structures.

President Arif Alvi said that it is important to understand that good governance and effective risk management are not only essential and beneficial for the private sector but it is equally important for the public sector as well.

The president said that we have supported and encouraged the adoption of best governance, risk management and compliance practices in all government offices to ensure a corruption-free Pakistan.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
