ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has formally launched the “Ehsaas Kafaalat Programme”, under which Rs 2,000 stipend will be paid per month to the most deserving and poorest women across the Country through a digital payment system based on transparent mechanism.

Under the programme, one million deserving families in 70 Districts will begin receiving Kafaalat stipends from February to March 2020.

The enrollment process of 1 million families in 70 Districts has already been initiated in the first phase while more beneficiary families in rest of the Districts will be enrolled systematically by the end of 2020, which will mark the beginning of disbursing the Rs 2,000 monthly stipends to 7 million beneficiaries through the programme.Who will benefit from Ehsaas Kafaalat Programme?

The database of deserving individuals has been established using a variety of modern techniques and technology to ensure the provision of frauds free dignified financial assistance.

Meanwhile, all existing eligible beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will continue to be part of the programme.

What is Ehsaas Kafaalat Programme, how it will function and who will be its beneficiaries?

Under the programme, the payment will be made through the new biometric Ehsaas Digital Payment System which will be hassle-free and shall ensure transparency.

In a bid to control fraud, biometrically enabled ATMs have been opened for the first time, minimizing interaction with Points of Sales (PoS) agents and touts.

The money will be easily withdrawn from PoS agents, dedicated branches and biometric enabled ATMS of Habib Bank and Alfalah Bank.
