ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed Khan has said that Pakistani media has highlighted Kashmir issue at the best possible level at the larger global scale.

While speaking as Chief Guest at a Seminar on ‘Role and Responsibility of Media in Highlighting Kashmir Dispute’ organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) in collaboration with Riphah Institute for Public Policy, Riphah International University Islamabad on Wednesday, Faisal Javed said that role and responsibility of media specially all kinds of media in Pakistan is manifold as they need to promote the cause of Kashmir on robust level.

Senator Faisal said that Pakistani media played a very critical role to highlight the Kashmir issue and its tremendous efforts cannot be neglected. He said that Pakistani media needs to broadcast English packages to spread the message of Pakistan across the borders.

The Senator said that Prime Minister Imran Khan proposed recently the English News Channel with the collaboration with Malaysia and Turkey to address these issues. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is the ambassador for Kashmir Cause and Ambassador of Kashmir.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to highlight the issue at the global stage,” he said.

In her talk, the Senior Vice President at National Press Club (NPC) Dr Sadia Kamal said that the Kashmir Conflict has recently got international community attention after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the United Nations General Assembly.

Dr Sadia Kamal said that Pakistani media is playing also a significant role in highlighting the humanitarian crises in Kashmir and Islamabad Press Club also arranged different seminars and protest in the solidarity with Kashmiri people.

The Head of Media Studies at Riphah University Islamabad Professor Dr Masoor Alam Khan said that Media portraits the most sensitive issue of Kashmir dispute in the country and subsequently mediated through interpersonal discourse to develop their social consensus.

A senior analyst Rashad Bukhari said that Kashmir has become one of the largest jail in the world. It is the moral duty of national and international media to highlight the concerns of the Kashmiri people. He said that there is a strong need to keep the humanitarian aspect and position on all the national and international forums about Kashmir.

The President IPDS Farhat Asif said ‘IPD arranges seminars, conferences, workshops, and event in collaboration with Missions, Governmental Departments and organization for the promotion of peace, tolerance and coexistence.

While introducing the Riphah University Islamabad, the Director at Riphah Institute of Public Policy Dr Rashid Aftab said that initially, the Riphah medical institute was established with an aim to provide quality education without profit. He said that now we have offered different undergraduate and graduate in diverse discipline ranging from Medical to Management Sciences.

The seminar was attended by a large number of diplomats, ambassadors, academicians, students, faculty members and people from different walks of life.
