RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The US Senators Christopher Van Hollen and Maggie Hassan held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pakistan army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.

In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting, issues of mutual interest and overall regional security situation including the Afghan reconciliation process and Kashmir issue were discussed.

The visiting dignitaries acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability.

The COAS appreciated the US understanding and support on all the need for resolving the Kashmir issue and for Pakistan’s efforts in Afghanistan.

Both sides stressed upon importance of strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Pakistan in and beyond security cooperation.

The US Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Paul Jones was also present in the meeting.

Earlier in the day, both the US Senators Maggie Hassan and Chris Van Hollen also met Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.
