No decision against establishment of CPEC Authority: PTI

CPECNo decision against establishment of CPEC Authority: PTI

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has brushed aside media reports according to which, the Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in its meeting held on September 5, 2019 rejected the establishment of CPEC Authority.

Apropos news circulated in certain sections of media wherein it has been erroneously reported that Parliamentary Committee on CPEC in its meeting held on September 5, 2019 has rejected the establishment of CPEC Authority,” said a clarification statement issued on Friday by the PTI Central Media Department.

It is clarified that the said committee meeting was an in-camera session and there was no such outcome as falsely reported.”

The statement said that CPEC is one of the most important economic development initiatives of the Country. Since CPEC is being expanded in its scope therefore any step to develop a dispensation to better manage multiple CPEC projects would be in the right direction.

Incidentally, the Senate Special Committee on CPEC, whose Chairperson also is member of this Parliamentary Committee on CPEC has endorsed the establishment of Authority for better regulation and administeration of this initiative.

It is questionable that at this point of time when the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is due in Islamabad that such propaganda is stirred up which carries no basis.
