Aloe Vera is a medicinal plant that’s been used to treat various health conditions for thousands of years. It is actually safe to use Aloe Vera which is taken directly from the plant or you can simply buy it in gel form.

If you are directly taking it from the plant, take the following steps;

  • Remove 3-4 leaves at a time.
  • Make sure that the leaves are healthy and free of any damage.
  • Cut them close to the stem because most of the nutrients are at the base of the leaves.
  • Avoid the roots.
  • Wash and dry the leaves.
  • Trim the prickly edges with a knife.
  • Use a knife to separate the interior gel from the outside of the leaf.
  • Cut the aloe gel into slices or cubes.

Uses of Aloe Vera gel

There are plenty of ways you can use the gel:

Helps to get rid of minor burns. Due to the gels moisturizing and cooling properties, it is often used to treat burns. According to a study in 2013, people who used Aloe Vera gel to treat superficial and partial thickness burns showed better results than those people who used silver sulfadiazine cream. If you have a severe burn then it is better to seek medical help before applying aloe.

Consumption of Aloe Vera can be good for your digestive system and help to comfort and cure stomach ailments. It can also be used as toothpaste and mouthwash, which are natural options for improving oral hygiene and reducing plaque (a sticky deposit on teeth in which bacteria increases).

Fresh Aloe can be used on your face which can help clear up acne. Aloe products can also be purchased which are designed for acne, including cleansers. These may have the extra benefit of containing other effective ingredients.

Even though the gel is safe to use but you should not use it if you have the following conditions:

  • Hemorrhoids
  • Kidney conditions
  • Renal disorder
  • Cardiac condition
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Intestinal obstruction
  • Diabetes
