ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad administration has taken over mosques and madaris of proscribed/banned organizations, according to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat.

The DC Islamabad said that mosques have been handed over to the Auqaf department and the Assistant Commissioner has been appointed as the administrator for running day to day affairs.

Hamza Shafqaat also said that active members of proscribed/banned organizations in Islamabad have also been arrested and placed under custody.

The actions were taken as per the instructions issued by the federal government as it launched a fresh crackdown against the banned outfits under the National Action Plan (NAP).

Meanwhile the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) launched a fresh crackdown in Punjab’s Attock and Chakwal Districts as well, and took over seminaries and properties belonging to Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) and Falah-i-Insaniyat (FIF).

Two JuD seminaries including Khalid Bin Waleed located in the Talagang area and Madrassa Darus Salam located on Chakwal’s Railway Road were handed over to the Auqaf department.

In Attock, various properties and belongings including Masjid Musab Bin Umair in Peoples Colony, a madrassa, an ambulance and a Passo car – owned by the JuD/FIF were also taken over by the district administration.

Likewise, the Punjab government also sealed Madressah Abdullah Bin Mubarak and took over the administrative control of Masjid Al-Noor in Mundeyki Goraya village near Daska, Sialkot.
