Islamabad, Pakistan: Senior journalist, anchor and writer from India, Rajdeep Sardesai is facing wrath of extremist elements of Indian politics because he being a sane voice is saying “No to War” while sitting among war mongers trying to push subcontinent as centre stage of military engagement between nuclear countries—India and Pakistan.
In a recent move, Rajdeep Sardesai has been tagged as Anti-National by the President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah because Pakistan state run television used one of Sardesai’s tweets in one of its shows.
Now BJP reportedly has asked its followers and workers to abuse Sardesai and put his telephone number and mail address on Facebook with instructions to abuse him as an anti-national element.
The rise of BJP has brought intolerance not only in Indian politics rather in society at large where hundreds of Indian citizens had been lynched to death by radical workers of BJP for crimes like selling cow or eating beef.
Radicalization and intolerance creeping into Indian journalism is playing a pivotal role to silence sane voices and those who wish to criticize Modi government or BJP for their illegal or radical activities. The recent example is Rajdeep Sardesai who believes that systems offers no protection to journalists.
The majority of senior journalists in India believe that a systematic purge is going on to silence voices of sanity who are already targeted by the threats and violence with an aim to keep the pot boiling (Indo-Pak standoff) and keeping working journalists away from questioning those in power.
When Rajdeep Sardesai was contacted by the Dispatch News Desk (DND) News Agency to comment over the situation, he just said in Hindi “Aisa Hota hai” (it happens).
