ISLAMABAD: The Presiding Officers, appointed for each polling station of National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies constituencies, have been authorized to exercise the powers of Grade I magistrate from May 10 to 12, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said.

According to the ECP, they have been authorized under the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The Presiding Officers will try any election-related offence in a summary way in accordance with the provisions of the said Code.
