ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan wants peace in the region as unrest and chaos would not serve any one’s interest, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on overall security situation of the region in particular context of Indian allegations against Pakistan over the Pulwama incident.

The foreign minister said that we are seriously reviewing the emerging situation and I have written a letter to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres apprising him about the situation.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood is in Islamabad for consultations after Pulwama incident.

In his letter to the UN secretary general, Shah Mahmood Qureshi asked him to persuade the Indian government to shun politics of hatred and violence, and resume talks with Pakistan to resolve all outstanding issues.

Qureshi also sought an investigation by India to “an open and credible investigation” on Pulwama attack, and avoid opting to hostile rhetoric against Pakistan as a tense environment would serve no one.
