ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Leader and Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has busted opposition’s propaganda about selective accountability, the Central Media Department PTI Central Secretary Information Omer Sarfaraz Cheema said.

In an informal meeting with beat reporters from print media, Cheema said that Aleem Khan’s arrest has dismantled the notion of selective accountability and political victimization.

Omer Sarfaraz Cheema said that cases of Sharif family are to be determined by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and higher courts and government has little to do about it.

Talking about party’s reorganization, he said that on the Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s directions the process of restructuring party is underway which will be concluded soon.

“For the first time in the history of the country a political party is reorganizing itself after holding the reins of power”, he said adding that dedicated and loyal workers from across the country will be delegated with responsibilities in order to fill the vacuum created as a result of formation of government.

Moreover, he said that PTI representatives on ministerial positions will be furloughed from party positions in a bid to keep the matters of the party and the government, separate.  He said that the PTI Central Secretary General Arshad Dad has been delegated with the responsibility to bring new leadership to the forefront.

Omer Sarfaraz Cheema stated that general elections 2018 was a combat against corruption and people placed their trust on Imran Khan.

Commenting on country’s economy, he said that Pakistan was going through worst crisis when PTI stepped into power.

“The consecutive corrupt governments of PPP and PML-N hollowed country’s economic foundations and pushed nation to quagmire of foreign debt”, he remarked.

Cheema said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has steered country into the right direction and has taken bold and decisive measures in this regard. He said that as a result of the incumbent government’s economic policies, foreign investors are looking forward to invest in Pakistan.

Furthermore, he said that PTI believes on accountability across the board and is committed to reform state institutions.

Referring to oppositions allegations of political victimization, he said that today’s arrest of Aleem Khan has put an end to their baseless propaganda.

Reiterating PTI’s resolve, he said that fair and transparent accountability will not be compromised and we will fulfill the promise of making a corruption-free Pakistan.

Commenting on the incumbent government’s foreign policy, he said that Imran Khan’s vision and astuteness has garnered successes at diplomatic avenues.

In concluding remarks, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema lauded media’s role in bringing change in the country and also apprised the reporters about the measures taken by government to facilitate growth of media in the country.
