Islamabad: The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer carried out a performance review of emergency operations in all Districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the Service. The emergency data revealed that Rescue 1122 has rescued 42816 victims of emergencies while conducting 42162 rescue operations during the month of April in Punjab, whereas the average response time was reported 6 minutes.

The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded includes 15317 Road Traffic Accidents, 23502 Medical emergencies, 1256 Fire incidents, 53 Building Collapse incidents, 1777 Crime, 76 Drowning Incidents, 179 Special Rescue Operations and 2 Explosions.

While chairing a meeting of senior officials at Emergency Services Academy on Thursday, the Director General Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that over 600 families are being affected of road traffic crashes on daily basis in Punjab, as average 500 RTAs are being reported with Provincial Monitoring Cell per day. He appealed to the motorcyclists to avoid indulging in dangerous act of wheelie, over speeding, careless driving and usage of mobile phone while driving, as these are the common causes of traffic accidents. DG Rescue Punjab also asked the parents to provide helmet to their loved ones before handing over motorcycles to them because helmet is cheaper than life.

These 42162 rescue operations in April includes 8400 rescue operations in Lahore, 4249 in Faisalabad, 3281 in Multan, 2345 in Gujranwala, 1557 in Bahawalpur, 1359 in Rawalpindi, 1460 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 1274 in Sargodha, 924 in Rahim Yar Khan, 1508 in Sahiwal, 1209 in Sialkot, 294 in Murree, 1484 in Jhang, 574 in Toba Tek Singh, 646 in Muzafargarh, 546 in Rajanpur, 454 in Mianwali, 646 in Pakpattan, 553 inKasur, 542 in Gujrat, 594 in Bahawalnagar, 369 in Jehlum, 927 in Attock, 810 inKhanewal, 528 in Vehari, 263 in Chakwal, 674 in Okara, 493 in Hafizabad, 978 in Sheikhupura, 710 in Lodhran, 314 in Nankana Sahib, 359 in Khushab, 260 in Mandibaha-ud-din, 425 in Narowal, 358 in Layyah, 511 in Bhakkar and 284 in Chiniot.
