ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The High Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with the British Council has launched the “Pak-UK Education Gateway” at the HEC Secretariat in Islamabad on Monday to enhance partnership between the higher education sectors of Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

This programme will support the targets set by the HEC in Vision 2025.

The aims of the collaboration between HEC and British Council include innovative, collaborative and impactful research, develop and implement teaching excellence framework, higher education leadership, quality assurance, transnational education, distance learning and international mobility

Over 20 UK universities are attending the event. They will visit Pakistani universities for collaborative initiatives.

In his address at the event, the Chairman HEC Dr. Tariq Banuri stressed the need for developing the bilateral academic relationship in ways that helps Pakistan build up its universities.

Dr. Tariq Banuri said that HEC wants to take the number of Pakistani students studying in UK not only to thousands but to tens of thousands.

During the panel discussion, the UK-PK Vice Chancellors deliberated on how to flourish innovative and collaborative research in a complex and polarised world and enlightened the participants by answering their queries.

The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood and the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew also attended the event.
