Protests in Pakistan after Asia Bibi’s acquittal

Private Schools to remain closed tomorrow

Meanwhile, All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA) has decided to close all private schools on Thursday.

The decision to acquit Asia Bibi in Blasphemy Case filed in 2009 was announced by a three-member Supreme Court Bench headed by the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel were also included in the bench.

The bench overturned the judgment of the Lahore High Court (LHC), which it had announced in October 2014 sentencing Asia Bibi to death, in the Blasphemy Case.

“The prosecution has categorically failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt,” the Chief Justice said in the 56-page detailed judgement on Asia Bibi’s acquittal appeal.
