ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The sixth Round of Pakistan-Lithuania Bilateral Political Consultations was held in Islamabad on Tuesday, in which the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and identified opportunities and possibilities for further cooperation, especially in the spheres of trade, investment, education, culture, parliamentary exchanges and people-to-people contacts was reviewed.

Additional Secretary (Europe) Zaheer A. Janjua

The Pakistan side was led by the Additional Secretary (Europe) Zaheer A. Janjua while the Lithuania delegation was headed by the Ambassador Eduardas Borisovas, Director Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Additional Secretary (Europe) briefed on the 2018 general elections, the priorities of the new government and invited Lithuanian companies to invest in energy, information and communications technology (ICT) and agriculture sectors.

Next round of Pakistan-Lithuania Bilateral Political Consultations will be held in 2019

The two sides discussed mutual collaboration at international fora including the UN, and agreed to further deepen it. They expressed satisfaction at the overall progress in bilateral relations and committed to enhance cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.

The Lithuanian side was apprised of recent developments in the South Asian region, especially in Afghanistan, Pakistan-India relations and human rights violations in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Lithuanian side briefed on the situation in the Baltic region and relations with neighbours.

The next round of Pakistan-Lithuania Bilateral Political Consultations will be held in Vilnius in 2019.
