Asia'Weakest, most indecisive govt at Centre': Sukhbir Singh Badal

Chandigarh, India: Punjab’s deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday said that the murderous attack on Sarabjit Singh – Indian national on death row in Pakistan jail – was “most unfortunate” and asked the Congress-led UPA government to send a high level team to unearth the truth. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Describing the union government as the “weakest government since independence” that has left no stone unturned to compromise nation’s security, Sukhbir Badal who is also president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said that Congress-led UPA government was the most indecisive government even on the sensitive issues such as Chinese intrusion and attack on Indian national Sarabjit in Lahore jail.

“The fact is that no neighbour including a tiny Island like Maldives is scared of India these days,” he added. “it is surprising that union government was sleeping over reports of intrusion till Chinese entered and camped 19 kms inside the Indian territory.” Asking the Centre to perform its legitimate duty to pursue the case of Sarabjit effectively and forcefully with Pakistan government, the deputy chief minister said that when whole country and all state governments were supporting the union government on this issue he could not understand the “lethargy of union government on this critical issue.”

Accusing the UPA government of not performing its duty to safeguard the territorial sovereignty of the country, Badal said that a country that cannot protect its territory and save its citizens “must go at the earliest.” He said “When all parties are asking the Congress-led UPA government to take strong and effective action against China our Prime Minister was describing it just a localised issue.” Expressing concern over India’s souring ties with all neighbours, he said that India must display its might to regain its stature otherwise even countries like Maldives were not taking us seriously.
