Likewise, the Joint Opposition has nominated Syed Khursheed Shah of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Maulana Asadur Rehman of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) as its Candidates for the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker respectively whereas PTI has nominated Asad Qaider for the Speaker National Assembly but yet to unveil the name for the Deputy Speaker.

The PTI Central Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry has claimed to have the support of 180 lawmakers in the Lower House, eight more than the required numbers to get Imran Khan elected as the prime minister in the first round.
