ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Ministry has put the names of the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Sources said that the Secretary Interior gave the approval to put their names on the ECL as Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have now been convicted in Avenfield reference.

Meanwhile, a high level meeting of the Interior Ministry was held today to discuss matters pertaining to return of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz from London.

The Inspector General Punjab and high officials of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) also attended the meeting.

Both Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz plan to return to Pakistan on Friday (July 13).

On July 6, Islamabad’s Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir awarded 10-year imprisonment to Nawaz Sharif, seven-year to Maryam Nawaz and one-year to Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar while announcing the judgment in Avenfield Reference.

Later, Captain (retd) Safdar’s name was put on the ECL, and he was also detained by NAB in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.

Meanwhile, as per sources, Sharif Family is expected to file an appeal against the Avenfield reference verdict in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today.

Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Haris has prepared the appeals.

Sources said that Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar have signed the papers declaring Khawaja Harris as their Counsel. The lawyers have completed the consultations on filing the appeals.
