ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Lt. General (retd) Khalid Naeem Lodhi may be appointed as the new National Security Adviser (NSA) replacing Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, reliable sources said on Thursday.

Lt. General (retd) Nasser Janjua tendered his resignation from the Post of National Security Adviser on Wednesday, allegedly due to differences with the interim government.

Sources said that Janjua may be replaced by Lt. General (retd) Khalid Naeem Lodhi who along with Mian Misbah Ur Rehman joined the interim government on Wednesday after they took oath as the Caretaker Federal Ministers.

Lt. General (retd) Khalid Naeem Lodhi was inducted into the Federal Cabinet led by Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk as the Minister for Defence Production.

Following his induction in the Federal Cabinet yesterday, Lodhi also met a Turkish delegation led by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Republic of Turkey Suay Alpay in Rawalpindi.

Lt. General (retd) Nasser Janjua remained the national security adviser of Pakistan from October 23, 2015 to June 27, 2018. His resignation was accepted by the Caretaker Prime Minister, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
