ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ashtar Ausaf Ali has resigned as the Attorney General, and forwarded his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday.

In a statement, Ashtar Ausaf said that it was an honour for him to serve as the Country’s attorney general.

Ashtar Ausaf Ali became the 32nd Attorney General for Pakistan on March 29, 2016.

Previously, Ashtar Ausaf served as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Law, Justice and Human Rights with the status of Minister of State Justice from 2015 to 2016. He served as the Advocate General of Punjab twice from 1998 to 1999, and 2012 to 2013.

Ashtar Ausaf also served as the Prosecutor General of the province from October 2011 to January 2012, and as the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Human Rights in 1999.

Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
