Kabul, Afghanistan: The Afghan National Security Adviser (NSA) Mohammad Haneef Atmar has said that earliest operationalization of recently concluded Afghan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Stability (APAPPS) would help to establish trust between the two neighbours.

While meeting with chief of Pakistan Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the camp office of Army House Rawalpindi, NSA Atmar was of the view that operationalization and actualization of APAPPS will help to improve cooperation and coordination between the two neighbours and would play pivotal role for confidence building between the two countries.

It is pertinent to mentioned that NSA Mohammad Haneef Atmar is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of his counterpart and National Security Advisor (NSA) of Pakistan Lt. Gen ® Nasir Khan Janjua with whom he had a separate meeting in Islamabad before meeting with chief of Pakistan Army.

NSA Atmar is heading a delegation comprising of Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Head of NDS, Wais Ahmad Barmak, Interior Minister Afghanistan while talks Afghan Ambassador in Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal also joined talks.

Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Tehmina Janjua was also present in the meeting with Army Chief of Pakistan.

Islamabad Bureau adds

According to a statement issued by the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan Army, the two sides agreed to fast track the formulation of working groups, especially on bilateral security cooperation and to undertake measures that would assist both sides in reduction of violence at the hands of terrorists.

Statement added that Afghanistan NSA Mohammad Haneef Atmar said that Afghanistan has very positive expectations from Pakistan and with mutual help.

Statement of ISPR maintained that Afghan delegation invited COAS for visiting Kabul and invitation was accepted by the Army chief of Pakistan.
