ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has expressed keen desire to further strengthen Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Malaysia by exploring and exploiting potential in diverse fields including economic, investment, energy, defence and tourism.

Talking to his Malaysian Counterpart Mahathir Mohamad on phone on Wednesday, Khaqan Abbasi congratulated him on Pakatan Harapan’s victory in 14th general election, his assumption of office as the Prime Minister of Malaysia and to exchange views on the issues facing the Muslim Ummah including Jammu & Kashmir and Palestine.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi appreciated the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections and transfer of power, reflecting maturity of the Malaysian nation. He noted that the unprecedented success of Pakatan Harapan was a manifestation of people’s trust in Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir’s dynamic and inspirational leadership.

The prime minister underscored the need for exchange of high level visits including parliamentary exchanges, to provide necessary impetus and direction to the Pakistan-Malaysia bilateral relations. He extended invitation to Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir to visit Pakistan.

The Malaysian prime minister thanked Khaqan Abbasi for his wishes and affirmed his commitment to further strengthen and deepen bilateral ties.
