BANNU, Pakistan: One police personnel was martyred while 13 civilians received wounds when a remote-controlled bomb went off near Kohat Chowrangi in Bannu on Friday.

Police said that the blast occurred near a police van. The injured were transported to District Headquarters Hospital Bannu.

Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of police reached the blast site and cordoned off the area.

Police said that the explosive material was planted in a motorcycle. Four vehicles and two motorcycles were completely destroyed in the blast while glasses of nearby shops were also broken.

Earlier in the morning, five people died and two injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a hotel in Peshawar’s Gulbahar area.

Police sources said that those died and injured belonged to a same family of Hangu.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.
