RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed has confirmed death sentences awarded to 11 hardcore terrorists by the Special Military Courts, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.

Besides, three convicts have also been awarded imprisonment.

The ISPR said that these terrorists were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, i.e. attacking armed forces/ law enforcement agencies (LEAs) of Pakistan, Malakand University, destruction of various educational institutions and killing of innocent civilians including Imran Khan Mohmand, a member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly.

They were involved in killing of 60 persons including 36 civilians, 24 armed forces/Frontier Constabulary (FC)/ police officials and injuring 142 others.

In addition, arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession.

The ISPR said that the convicts admitted their offences before the Magistrate and the Trial Court.

  1. Burhan Uddin S/O Umar Daraz, Shaheer Khan S/O Rehman Uddin and Gul Faraz Khan S/O Wasli Khan:

They were affiliated with a proscribed organization, and were involved in attacking the funeral ceremony of Civilian Abdullah, at Zargrano Killi, Sher Ghar (Mardan) which resulted in death of 30 Civilians including Imran Khan Mohmand, a member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and injuries to 100 others.

  1. Muhammad Zeb S/O Muhammad Nawab:

The convict – a member of proscribed organization – was involved in attacking armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Muhammad Hanif, Havildar Muhammad Naseer, and Havildar Muhammad Qayyum along with two other soldiers and injuries to six others. He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Saleem S/O Abdul Mateen:

The convict – a member of proscribed organization – was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking armed forces/LEAs of Pakistan which resulted in death of three civilians, four soldiers and injuries to 12 others.

The convict was also involved in destruction of Government High School, Dherai (Swat).

  1. Izat Khan S/O Ajib ul Bahar:

The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking armed forces of Pakistan as well as Malakand University which resulted in death of a civilian, four police officials and injuries to seven others. The convict was also involved in destruction of three different educational institutions.

Moreover, he was found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Muhammad Imran S/O Hazrat Umar:

The convict was also affiliated with a member of proscribed organization, and was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of Naik Ghulam Hassan, Naik Ifitkhar Ali alongwith a soldier and injuries to four others. He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Yousaf Khan S/O Ahmed Jan:

The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in killing of an innocent civilian and attacking armed forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of two soldiers and injuries to four others.

  1. Nadir Khan S/O Amir Rehman:

The convict – also a member of proscribed organization – was involved in attacking armed forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of Havildar Muhammad Ismail along with a soldier. He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Muhammad Arif Ullah Khan S/O Zareen Gul:

The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking armed forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of two soldiers and injuries to seven others.

  1. Bakht Muhammad Khan S/O Ghawas Khan:

Also affiliated with a proscribed organization, the convict was involved in killing of a civilian and attacking armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of two soldiers and injuries to two others.
