MULTAN: Police arrested one of two suspects who allegedly threw acid on three women including a mother and two daughters in village Nauranga on the outskirts of Multan.

According to police, Altaf and Naveed had some enmity with Aziza Mai and the accused wanted to take revenge from the woman. “On Tuesday morning they went to her house and threw acid on her,” police said.

When her daughters tried to save their mother, the accused also threw acid on them, police said, adding that one accused Altaf was arrested and the other accused Naveed is on the run.

The injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan.

More than 150 acid attacks cases have been reported in the past twelve month despite passage of a new law by Pakistani Parliament.
