ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman has said that the government is committed to provide early development and learning opportunities to our children.
While addressing as chief guest the inaugural ceremony of the two-day second National Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) at the auditorium of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said that children are our asset and early childhood development is the fundamental right of every child to unleash his/her full potential.
Baligh Ur Rehman said that without ensuring holistic development of children we cannot claim to transform the society. Early years of childhood form the basis of intelligence, personality, social behavior and capacity to learn and nurture oneself as an adult, he said.
The minister congratulated the organizers of the conference, and said that we are moving towards a happy and healthy future of our children who are going to take up responsible positions one day.
The federal minister said that the government took number of steps for the promotion of quality education in the Country. He said that the rate of enrollment in schools has improved and more than five million additional children have been enrolled.
The minister for education and professional training said that curriculum from class I-V has been revised and the revised curriculum encourages activity-based learning of the children. He said that the revised curriculum also emphasized upon the character-building and making of our children life-long learners. He said that work is also underway on the revision of curriculum of class 6-8.
