PoliticsJudges disqualified Khawaja Asif with heavy hearts: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE, Pakistan: The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said the judges disqualified Khawaja Muhammad Asif with heavy hearts.

On April 26, a three-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) headed by Justice Athar Minallah disqualified Khawaja Asif for life under article 62 (1)(f) of the Constitution for hiding his assets.

Talking to media outside the Accountability Court in Islamabad today, Nawaz Sharif said he was disqualified for holding Iqama, adding he was happy that he had no burden over his heart.

Nawaz Sharif said it’s awful that they had learnt nothing from the past.

The prime minister said India and China had been developing friendship between them.

In reply to a question, Nawaz Sharif excused to comment on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Jalsa at Minar-i-Pakistan in Lahore.

On Sunday, PTI held a massive public gathering at Minar-i-Pakistan in which the Chairman PTI Imran Khan unveiled the party’s 11-point agenda which included education, healthcare, tax reform, corruption control, economy, employment, tourism, agriculture, federation & provincial reform, justice and women empowerment.

Earlier in a statement, the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said after being in power for five years, Imran Khan had been hiding himself behind Shaukat Khanum, NUML University and cricket.

Shahbaz Sharif said a special class had been hoping that a person who couldn’t change the text of his speech would change their destiny.

“Why accountability system is kept close in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he questioned.

The Chief Minister Punjab said the whole gist of Imran Khan’s speech at Minar-i-Pakistan was, there was nothing if “I” had not been there.
