Islamabad, Pakistan: A heavy earthquake was recorded in Islamabad Pakistan at 8.54 pm on Tuesday. Magnitude of earthquake was recorded as 5.3 Depth with epicenter was 250km away from Islamabad at Latitude:36.72 N Longitude:70.66E in Hindukush Region Afghanistan. City of Jarm in Afghanistan was mostly hit area.

The Federal capital was jolted by a heavy earthquake which was recorded at 2055 hours of local time (Pakistan Standard Time). Reports are reaching and this is a developing story. According to information, the epicenter of earthquake was in Hindukush mountains of Afghanistan. Depth of earthquake was less than 262 km inside surface of earth while it was 5.6 on scale recorded in Kabul while magnitude was recorded as 5.3 in Islamabad.

Earthquake was felt in Chitral valley, Kaghan valley, KPK, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Kamra, Hazro, Jhelum, Quetta, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Murree Hills, Nushara, Parachinar, North Waziristan, South Wazirstan and in all cities of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

According to available information, earthquake was felt in Tashkent, Dushanbe, Nooristan, Badhakshan, Balk, Jalalabad, Kanduz, Takhar and adjoining areas.

Afghanistan is a historic source of earthquakes and one of such earthquake destroyed entire city Quetta in first quarter of 1900. Details about causalities are yet to be received.

It is pertinent to mention that some mud houses were destroyed by the earthquake in Jarm city of Afghanistan and also in remote areas of Balochistan.
