ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday extended the last date of registration of voters till April 30, 2018.

Earlier in the day, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Dr Arif Alvi also demanded the ECP to extend the deadline for registration of votes in the electoral lists for the next general elections.


According to the ECP, April 24 was the last date for voters’ registration, transfer and correction; therefore, all those out of the electoral rolls had the last chance today to get themselves registered to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general elections.PTI asks ECP to extend last date for voters’ registration

In a statement issued by the PTI Central Media Department, the PTI leader Dr Arif Alvi demanded the ECP to extend the last date till April 30.

Arif Alvi said that as per the article 39(1) of the Election Bill 2017, it is possible to change the address in the electoral lists 30 days before the dissolution of the National Assembly.

The ECP had asked the people to visit the nearby Display Centers or the District Election Commission Office to get their votes registered or have their details corrected.
