KARACHI, Pakistan: The Minister for Interior, Planning and Development & Reform Ahsan Iqbal on Monday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had resorted peace in Karachi as incidents of extortion and target killing no longer occurred in the City.

In his address at the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Summit organized by the Federal Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform in cooperation with a private media outlet, Ahsan Iqbal said Karachi had become a hub of economic activities.

The minister said 21st Century was the Century of innovations, and the Belt and Road Project was a stepping stone of prosperity.

Ahsan Iqbal also said political consistency and stability was imperative for economic growth. He said as per the vision 2025, the PML-N government had been focusing upon seven major sectors.

The two-day CPEC Summit and Expo 2018 went underway in Karachi, which would highlight the visions of the governments of China and Pakistan for enhanced trade cooperation with the aim to drive regional peace, prosperity and economy.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi accompanied by the Minister for Power Sardar Awais Khan Leghari also reached Karachi to attend the CPEC Summit.

Upon his arrival, the Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair received the prime minister at the airport.
