PoliticsCriticizing institutions will be harmful for Country: Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said criticizing the institutions would be harmful for the Country and the State.

In his response to the former Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) Convener Farooq Sattar’s Press Conference held on Monday, Khursheed Shah said MQM and Nawaz Sharif adopted the same method with regards to criticizing the institutions though over separate cases.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader said the people had understood that they had been fighting for the power and not for the rights or welfare of the public.

Khursheed Shah said MQM had slipped away from Farooq Sattar’s hands, adding Farooq Sattar himself had said that he would accept the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He said the only priority of MQM was how to get power.

On Monday its short judgment in a petition filed by the MQM-Bahadurabad leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Kanwar Naveed Jameel, a five-member bench of the ECP headed by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan declared null and void the intra party polls of MQM-Pakistan.

The Commission also removed name of Farooq Sattar from the convenership of MQM-Pakistan.

Later in a Press Conference, Farooq Sattar termed the ECP’s verdict illegal and unconstitutional, and said the ECP verdict was part of a larger conspiracy to quash MQM-Pakistan and its symbol of kite ahead of the 2018 general elections.
