ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Interior and Planning, Development & Reforms Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday said even today survival of a nation depended upon strong economy and knowledge.

In his address at a function organized by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) in Islamabad, the minister said no Country could make progress without internal peace and stability.

The interior minister said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was endorsement of Pak-China friendship.

Ahsan Iqbal said for the first time, under CPEC, genuine programme had been initiated to mine coal from Thar, and first coal-based project in the area would become operational by the end of 2018.

The federal minister said they could not exploit Thar coal for 70 years despite the fact that deposits had more energy value than combined oil reserves of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The minister said full development of Gwadar would make Pakistan hub of regional trade.

Furthermore, Ahsan Iqbal said backbone of terrorists had been broken, and now they were running away. He further said lights of Karachi had been restored, now investors were investigating in the City.
