ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman on Friday said the federal government was committed to provide technology and training to 50,000 artisans and bringing them online on Made in Pakistan portal, althrough Universal Services Fund (USF).

“We want to take Pakistan digitally forward,” the minister said while chairing the 57th Board of Directors Meeting of USF Company in Islamabad.‘We want to take Pakistan digitally forward,’ says Anusha Rehman

The Board welcomed the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) USF Company Rizwan Mustafa Mir as the new Director on the board. The Board also took into consideration the agenda pertaining to the provision of Information and Communication Technology to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Pakistan.

The micro, small and medium enterprises in Pakistan can be termed as the backbone of the economy because they constitute nearly 80 percent of the enterprises in Pakistan. Pakistan has a population of around 200 million and a work force of about 65 million, with these enterprises.

The Board discussed that by providing access to digital platform and bringing MSMEs online, the real potential can be reaped and has surely create opportunity to propel Pakistan to higher-income Country.

The Board also made a Sub Committee, headed by CEO Jazz (Member Board of Directors) Amir Ibrahim with Member Telecom Mudassar Hussain and CEO Ignite Yusuf Hussain to oversee the e-commerce project finalisation being executed by USF Company.

The Board Members including the Secretary IT Rizwan Bashir Khan, Member Telecom Mudassar Hussain, CEO Jazz Aamir Ibrahim, CEO PTCL Daniel Ritz, VP ISPS Azfar Manzoor; Chairman Consumers Association Kaukab Iqbal and the senior management of USF Company also attended the meeting.
