ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has lambasted the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan over his remarks about the Parliament, saying that those criticizing the Parliament have no right to do politics in Pakistan.

On Wednesday while addressing the gathering at Mall Road in Lahore wherein the Joint Opposition held a protest against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, Imran Khan cursed upon the Parliament which, according to him, paved the way for a disqualified person to head a party by amending the Constitution.

“I condemn Imran Khan’s words used for the Parliament,” Khursheed Shah said in response to Imran khan for his criticism over the Parliament.

Khursheed Shah said that the Parliament has made Pakistan an atomic power and strengthened its boundaries. He said that those who don’t believe in the Parliament need not to tender resignations.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Awami League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed tendered his resignation from the National Assembly while addressing the Mall Road public gathering while Imran Khan also hinted to follow the former’s footsteps.

Meanwhile in two twitter messages on Thursday, Imran Khan justified his derogatory remarks against the Parliament, saying that “When a Parliament, which must protect nation’s interests, passes a person-specific law allowing a disqualified person guilty of Rs 3 billion money laundering, tax evasion, concealment of assets, forgery & perjury to become head of a political party, then such a law is a “laanat” (curse) on the Parliament.”

“In fact in this specific context “laanat” is a mild word to use. If anyone disagrees, I challenge them to do a public poll on what people think of such a Parliament. I can guarantee most will condemn it,” Imran Khan said.Khursheed Shah slams Imran Khan for cursing Parliament

It is also worth mentioning here that both Houses of the Parliament passed the Electoral Reforms Bill 2017 last year, paving the way for the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to return as the PML-N Chief. Nawaz Sharif had earlier lost the presidency of PML-N simultaneously when he was de-seated as the member of National Assembly following his disqualification by the Supreme Court on July 28 in Panama Papers Case.
