ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday underlined the need for enhancing Pakistan-Iraq cooperation in different sectors including education, culture and trade.

Talking to the ambassador-designate to Iraq Sajid Bilal who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, the president said that Iraq is an important Country of the Islamic World and Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Iraq.

The president said that Pakistan has very cordial relations with Iraq which are further strengthened by the historical and religious links. Therefore, he added, that it is necessary to increase cooperation in different sectors including education, culture and trade.

President Mamnoon also directed that efforts for the enhancement of mutual cooperation should be intensified.

Mamnoon Hussain underlined that there are vast opportunities of trade between Pakistan and Iraq and continuous efforts are required for the optimal utilization of their true potential.

The president also stressed that priority should be given to the exchange of delegations of traders and industrialists in this regard.

Senior officials were also present on the occasion.
