NationalPARC to organize national workshop on bio-fertilizers

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) will organize a day-long national workshop on January 17 on bio-fertilizer development, commercialization and legislation in Pakistan to highlight the importance of bio-fertilizer and enhancing crop productivity by minimizing the input cost.

The workshop to be held at National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) in Islamabad is aimed at promoting the use of bio-fertilizers for producing environment-friendly agriculture produces to protect human and animal health, and crop friendly insects.

The other objective of the national workshop is to find out ways and means for developing and encouraging the production as well as commercialization of bio-fertilizers and discussing the legislative measures to promote the production of bio-fertilizers.

The workshop will also cover the efficiency of bio-fertilizers to increase crop yield, present status of bio-fertilizers, their potential and future prospects of their use across the globe.

It will also discuss constraints and issues being faced by the stakeholders for the promotion of bio-fertilizers, whereas main focus of the workshop will be on policy issues in commercialization and registration of bio-fertilizers at federal level to popularize the technology all over the Country.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan will inaugurate the event, besides Secretary Ministry of NFS&R Fazal Abbas Maken and other prominent scientists and academicians will attend the workshop.

The prominent scientists, planners and policy makers will share their views for the development of bio-fertilizers development and its commercialization.

The national workshop will review initiatives in research and development of Bio-fertilizers taken by different academic, research and private institution of the Country.

Moreover, the impact of bio-fertilizers on various crops and its role will be discussed in sustaining agricultural productivity and produce chemical free agriculture products.
