PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Having become the prime target of terrorists, the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) personnel continue to tender sacrifices as one more suicide attack took the lives of Additional Inspector General (AIG) Headquarters Muhammad Ashraf Noor along with two other people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Capital on Friday morning.

Police said that the blast occurred in Hayatabad area of Peshawar wherein apart from the Shahadat of AIG Headquarters, his driver and security guard, five other persons also suffered injuries.

They said that the AIG Headquarters Ashraf Noor was traveling to his Office but as he reached near Tatara Park, a suicide bomber struck his motorcycle with the AIG’s vehicle.

Meanwhile, the dead bodies and injured persons were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex while security forces cordoned off the blast site and began a search operation in the area.

In a statement, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi strongly condemned the blast in Hayatabad, and lauded the sacrifices of police personnel in the fight against terrorism.

The prime minister said that dastardly acts of the militants cannot deter our LEAs and the nation in taking the fight to its logical conclusion.

The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif condemned the Peshawar blast and expressed grief over loss of precious lives.

Earlier on November 15, the Superintendent of Police Muhammad Ilyas was martyred along with three family members in a firing incident in the Nawa Kali area of Quetta.

Prior to that on November 9, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Balochistan Police Hamid Shakeel and his driver Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Ramzan were martyred in a suicide blast that went off near Chaman Housing Scheme in Quetta.

While two personnel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police were shot dead by unknown assailants at Shagonaka Check Post in Shergah area of Mardan on November 6.
