ISLAMABAD: In his opening remarks at a meeting in Islamabad this morning‚ the Prime Minister Justice (R) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso said that law and order situation is becoming a challenging task for the caretaker government.

He said that it is the duty and obligation of the government to provide a conducive atmosphere for the conduct of fair and transparent elections. He said that every citizen must be treated equally‚ dignity of human life should be maintained‚ and liberty of life and honour must be guaranteed as envisaged in the Constitution.

Chief Minister Punjab‚ Najam Sethi‚ Chief Minister Balochistan‚ Nawab Ghaus Bukhsh Barozai and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Justice (R)  Tariq Pervez are attending the meeting on law and order situation at Prime Minister Secretariat Islamabad.

The Prime Minister said that it is heartening to note that all the political parties‚ representing all shades of political spectrum‚ have decided to be part of the mainstream political process. This shows their confidence in the democratic dispensation. However this confidence has seriously affected due to recent killings of the prominent party candidates belonging to major political parties. The Prime Minister stressed the need to restore and strengthen the confidence by assuring and ensuring a peaceful environment for the elections and maintaining law and order.

He urged the Ministry of Interior and Home departments in the provinces and FATA‚ to lay additional emphasis on addressing loop holes in security. He said that we should all do our utmost effort to plug all holes that can affect or disrupt the electoral process.

Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
