ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday said they wanted to resolve Faizabad sit-in issue peacefully, adding they would find the solution of the issue within 24 to 48 hours.

Talking to media after appearing before the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Ahsan Iqbal said he had informed the Court about their efforts to end sit-in at Faizabad Interchange, which has now entered into 15th day today.

The minister said the conspiracy elements wanted another episode like Lal Masjid and Model Town incident. He said bloodshed was expected due to the use of power.

Ahsan Iqbal told media that they had requested for some more time from the IHC. He hoped that they would convince the protestors, and the ongoing dialogues between the two sides would provide a breakthrough.

The interior minister further said Khatm-e-Nabuwat law had become more powerful than the past. He said he had convened an emergency meeting of Ulema belonging to all Schools of Thought in Islamabad today for final consultation to cope with the situation.

Earlier the IHC summoned the interior minister and the secretary interior, and sought their reply over non-implementation of Court’s orders.

The IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Friday had ordered the Islamabad administration to take necessary steps to clear the Faizabad Interchange. Justice Siddiqui also also ordered the administration to seek help of Frontier Constabulary (FC) and Rangers to implement Court’s order.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has also reached Islamabad to hold talks with the Faizabad protesters.

The negotiations team of sit-in protesters will reach Punjab House in Islamabad at 1:00 pm to hold talks.

The Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Law Minister Zahid Hamid, Leader of the Upper House Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad will hold the dialogues with the protesters team.
