GILGIT, Pakistan: The Principal Information Officer (PIO) Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Muhammad Salim Baig on Friday said special training programmes would be organized for journalists of Gilgit Baltistan in Islamabad to further enhance the professional of skills and abilities in the competitive media sector.

While addressing a luncheon ceremony hosted by him for local journalists in Gilgit, the PIO said he had visited Gilgit Baltistan on the directives of the Minister of State Marriyum Aurangzeb to meet with journalists’ community besides appraising themselves from their problems.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would take every possible efforts for solution of problems of Journalists and would organize different types of trainings programs and courses at Islamabad to further enhance their professional skills and abilities so that they could perform their duties in more professional way, he said.

Salim Baig said all the genuine problems of journalists would be addressed including the issue of grant for the Gilgit Press Club.

The PIO said Journalists of Gilgit Baltistan are very knowledgeable, prudent and educated and responsible journalism was being grown here that was good omen. He said the Ministry of Information was taking solid measures for rights and solution of problems of journalists.

Salim Baig said Gilgit Baltistan was a beautiful region and its people were very educated and hospitable that impressed him a lot.

The President Gilgit Press Club Muhammad Iqbal Aasi, members Editors Forum GB, President GB Union of Journalists, office bearers of Gilgit Baltistan Newspapers Society and working journalists from print and electronic media attended in large number.

They appraised the PIO about their problems and presented suggestions for its solution. The Gilgit Press Club President thanked the PIO for his assurance of solution of their problems.
