PoliticsNAB references: Bailable arrest warrants issued against Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: An Accountability Court in Islamabad on Thursday issued bailable arrest warrants for the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment references.

Meanwhile, the Court rejected Nawaz Sharif’s plea seeking immunity from appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Court to face the trial.

The Court ordered the former prime minister to appear before it on November 3.

Sources said that Nawaz Sharif deliberately didn’t appear in the Accountability Court while the NAB prosecutor requested the Court to issue arrest warrants for Nawaz Sharif.

Separately, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar appeared before the Accountability Court in Islamabad today.

Talking to media, Maryam Nawaz said that Nawaz Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz has been suffering from Cancer and she is ill, adding that such proceedings will raise questions.

“Are all the laws for Nawaz Sharif only?” Maryam asked.

Maryam Nawaz said that an elected prime minister is disqualified on the basis of Iqama. If we talk about the injustice we are accused of Contempt of Court, she said.

“You know very well what actually the matter is, neither you nor I am so simple. First the decision is made than the cases are proceeded,” Maryam Nawaz said.

Earlier on October 19, the Accountability Court had indicted Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and his Son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar in Avenfield flats reference filed by NAB as per the directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Later a day after, the Court separately indicted Nawaz Sharif in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference and Hill Metal Establishment reference. However, all the accused pleaded not guilty.
