ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anusha Rehman on Friday said corrective measures were yielding dividends for streamlining affairs of Telephone Industries of Pakistan (TIP).

The affairs of TIP had been streamlined with strenuous efforts and teamwork of ministry of IT during last three years.

She said due to consistent pursuit of the ministry and the TIP Board, the incumbent management of entity was able to save Rs.107 million within one year on single account of utility bills.

Similar improvements on cutting losses in other areas had yielded significant savings, she said chairing 191th Board of Directors meeting of TIP here.

Managing Director TIP, Syed Khalid Gardezi apprised the Board that official accommodations were got vacated from illegal occupants and the management was also proceeding against delinquents in accordance with law.

“We were taking all corrective measures to put TIP administrative affairs in order but unfortunately some mafias of vested interests were creating hurdles in implementation of board decisions by abusing the process of law,” he said.

The minister, categorically said any violation and non-compliance to board decisions would not be tolerated and all such mafias would be dealt severely in accordance with law.

The meeting also approved Rs. 45 million as operational budget of the company for forthcoming year with directions that all unnecessary expenses be further cut down.

The MD further assured that the decisions of Board would be complied with at any cost. The board appreciated efforts of MD and his team.

It was agreed that the ministry of IT would ensure strict implementation of all decisions made by Telephone Industries of Pakistan’s in true letter and spirit.

Secretary IT, Rizwan Bashir Khan, Member Telecom Mudassar Hussain, Member Legal Ameena Sohail, HR Member Tahir Mushtaq and other board members also attended the meeting.
