ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali on Tuesday said power supply was improving day-by-day in the Country due to effective policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

While responding to a motion moved by Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Sher Akbar Khan about situation arising out of excessive billing of electricity, the minister said the PML-N government was fulfilling its commitments made with the public and it succeeded to overcome of electricity loadshedding. He said load-shedding duration had been reduced to 2 to 3 hours from 18 hours.

The state minister told the House that the federal government was setting up five new grid stations in various localities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to remove low voltage complaints and ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity.

Abid Sher Ali said it took three to four years to acquire land in Chakdara and Nowshera to set up grid stations, adding that now the land had been acquired.

“We will do the two-year work in nine months,” he said.

The minister further said there were around 275 feeders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where zero loadshedding was being observed while 120 feeders were facing 85 percent to 90 percent line loses.

To address the issue of excessive electricity bills, he said mobile phone were being used to take picture of meter-reading to avoid any complaints.

The state minister also invited parliamentarians of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh for holding meeting to remove their grievances and reservations.
