ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Uzbekistan has invited National Security Adviser of Pakistan Lt General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua Janjua to attend International Conference on Security in Tashkent.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Furqat Sidiqov held a meeting with National Security Adviser of Pakistan Lt General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua on Friday and invited him on International High Level Conference on Security and Sustainable Development in Central Asia to be held in Tashkent Uzbekistan on November 9-11, 2017.

According to details, Uzbek Ambassador Furqat Sidiqov during his meeting with Gen Janjua said that Uzbek government is (was) keen to further strengthen ties with Pakistan by extending cooperation in multiple areas including political, defence and economic sector while Gen Janjua expressed that Pakistan attaches (attached) great importance to cordial and cooperative relations with Uzbekistan.

In their meeting, the ambassador Furqat Sidiqov said over the years both Pakistan and Uzbekistan had successfully developed excellent diplomatic relations. The Uzbek ambassador also acknowledged and appreciated commitment of Islamabad and efforts against terrorism and stressed the need for well-planned coordinated efforts by all regional countries to tackle the regional challenges through regional solutions on the basis of political dialogue.

Furqat Sidiqov also highlighted the fact that the two countries shared views on major regional and international issues concerning peace and security.

The ambassador also extended an invitation to the national security adviser for participation in the forth-coming International High Level Conference on Security and Sustainable Development in Central Asia to be held in Uzbekistan on November 9-11, 2017.

In his remarks, the National Security Adviser said that Uzbekistan was a brotherly Muslim Country and Pakistan attached great importance to cordial and cooperative relations with Uzbekistan. Gen Janjua said both countries had immense potential to expand the spectrum of bilateral relations. He also appreciated the approach of the Uzbek government towards different regional issues.

Besides bilateral relations, the two sides also discussed issues regarding defence cooperation and overall regional security situation.
