President Emomali Rahmon appreciates assistance of Pakistan for strengthening security potential of Tajikistan
Dushanbe, Tajikistan: President Emomali Rahmon has appreciated technical assistance of Pakistan for strengthening security potential of Tajikistan in combating regional threats
Pakistan and Tajikistan stress the need of intensify bilateral and multilateral cooperation for stabilizing political and military situation in Afghanistan.
According to a statement issued here on Monday by the Presidential office of Republic of Tajikistan, President Emomali Rahmon held talks with Chief of Pakistan Army COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa and both discussed issues relating combating terrorism and strengthening of the state border.
It was stressed that one of the main directions of Tajikistan’s cooperation with Pakistan, is to support and actively participate in ensuring and strengthening regional and international peace and stability.
It was expressed satisfaction that the cooperation of the national armies, special services and law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Pakistan has been expanding and acquiring a new level and quality in the recent years.
Military-technical assistance of Pakistan and its role in the intensification of Tajikistan’s security potential in combating regional threats was appreciated by President Emomali Rahmon during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed issues of intensification of bilateral and multilateral cooperation on the stabilization of the political and military situation in Afghanistan, combating terrorism and extremism, strengthening of the state border and other issues of mutual interest.
Islamabad Adds
General Qamar Javed Bajwa Chief of Army Staff (COAS) called on President of Tajikistan, Mr Emomali Rahmon at Dushanbe today.
According to a statement issued by the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan Armed force, COAS thanked the President for supporting Pakistan’s membership of the SCO and for hosting the QCCM initiative.
President Rahmon offered his sincere wishes for people of Pakistan, appreciating the role Pakistan and Pakistan Army has played in fight against terrorism and peace.
Both discussed the regional security issues and had unanimity of views for peace in Afghanistan and the region; reiterating the importance of dialogue, regional cooperation and support to Afghan led and Afghan owned initiatives.
The two also pledged to enhance and expand Pakistan-Tajikistan cooperation in the fields of defence and security.
