Government of PakistanPakistan seeks further strengthened economic cooperation with Turkey

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Pakistan is keen to further strengthen the existing equation with Turkey especially the economic cooperation.

In a meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Pakistan Sadik Babur Girgin at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad on Monday, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan values its brotherly relations with Turkey which are based on shared history, common values and mutual interests.

Khaqan noted with satisfaction that the bilateral relations of the two Countries have further deepened as well as broadened during the last four years.

The prime minister underlined the need for further strengthening the relations, particularly the economic cooperation between the two Countries.

In his remarks, the Turkish ambassador felicitated the prime minister on behalf of his Turkish government.

The ambassador also a delivered a letter of felicitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on assuming the Office of Pakistan’s Prime Minister.

The Turkish ambassador expressed the hope that upward trajectory of Pak-Turkey relations would continue its pace and would result into greater cooperation and collaboration between the two Countries.

The prime minister thanked the ambassador, and conveyed his good wishes for the brotherly people and leadership of Turkey.

The bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey are decades old, and both the Countries have always been supportive to each other on various International forums.

In July last year, when a faction of Turkish military made an attempt to oust the government and seized control in Ankara, Istanbul, Marmaris and Malatya, Pakistan extended its full support in favour of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
