Government of PakistanNawaz rules out resignation, says JIT report based on assumptions, allegations

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday ruled out his resignation and said that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report was the compilation of allegations, assumptions and ideas.

In his remarks while presiding over the meeting of Federal Cabinet in Islamabad, the prime minister said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) bagged more votes than the collective votes of those demanding his resignation.

Nawaz Sharif said that his family earned nothing from politics but lost so much.

The prime minister said that they accepted the JIT despite reservations, and he presented his whole family before the JIT without any fear and hesitation.

“If we have done corruption in any project than expose it,” the prime minister said.

Meanwhile, the Federal Cabinet unanimously rejected the JIT report submitted in the Supreme Court on June 10, mentioning serious financial irregularities and corruption on the part of Sharif family.

The Federal Cabinet also endorsed the prime minister’s decision to not step down by thumping desks in support.

In addition, the Cabinet approved the decisions and recommendations of Cabinet’s Energy Committee, Economic Coordination Committee and other stake holders.

It also formed a committee consisting of Hasil Bazinjo, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Irfan Siddique and barrister Zafarullah to propose name for new Islamabad International Airport.

The appointment of new Managing Director Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), and terms and conditions of the appointment of members of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) were also approved.
