ISLAMABAD: Commission says it fully supports demand of all political parties for providing security to all candidate

The Election Commission has clarified that it has not directed the federal and provincial governments to withdraw security from the ANP leadership.

In a press release in Islamabad the Commission said it fully supports demand of all political parties for providing security to all candidates by the federal and provincial governments.

Earlier‚ President Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan condemning the Peshawar blast had alleged that proper security had not been provided to their leadership and candidates despite serious threats by terrorists.

Speaking on media channels he however expressed the resolve to contest elections at all costs.

He said continuity of democratic system is the only solution to eradicate terrorism from the country.

He urged all the political stake-holders to evolve a joint strategy to maintain peace during elections.
